Playdough

So, my day has started about 3:45 am today...who can sleep with a million things flowing thorough their mind?  One of which was, I so need to make some playdough to take on our trip.  Crazy, I know but it's probably me just deflecting my worries.  Anyone who truly knows me, knows I worry a lot.  To top it off, I am a super planner and very type A so this all combined makes a bad recipe for sleep.

Seriously though, today we travel to visit my sister who is having a minor (Not major, but still enough to bug the crap out of me) surgery.  It really stinks because she is only 25 and if it were me, I would be scared out of my mind.  Good thing I have a really supportive husband though; he keeps reminding me that it will all be okay!  I haven't told her how nervous this all makes me and that's probably the best (hopefully she'll read this later!!) but it just seems like she always, always, ALWAYS get the short end of the stick.  She is one tough cookie!

So, the title....Playdough, back to that.  I finally decided to get out of my warm bed and throw in a load of towels (it all has to be clean before I leave) and find a recipe to make homemade (important with an 18 month old) playdough to take on the trip.  Isn't it funny, the things you do as a first time mommy?  So I found a recipe and what do you know it calls for cream of tartar, which I am fresh out of.  I am waiting very anxiously to head to the store so I can make it!!!! Can't you tell that I'm excited?!?!  I really hope she enjoys playing with it.

Have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend!!

Happy Hump Day!!

It's been a while but I am sticking with this.  So much has happened since I last blogged and honestly I have no idea where to start.  Amiyah and I got to visit with my Godmother in NC and had a wonderful time... and it didn't hurt that we were missed!!  While there, she made friends with Bailey; a small dog whose name she can't seem to quit calling. "Bailey, Bailey!!!" It's really cute because she is afraid of animals and it was nice to finally see her touching a dog and being at ease.

Moving on, I have to post about the funniest thing.  Last week sometime, we're all in the kitchen and my husband is sniffing around saying, "Something smells old!!! Do you smell that; it's an old smell?"  Now I have to say, I am laughing as I am typing because it was hilarious.  Usually I am the one with the nose of a bloodhound and any little scent sets me off...back to the story, so he continues sniffing and searching and finally I join in and together we figure out that it's Amiyah.  Old smell, really????? All I could do was laugh and send them upstairs to the diaper genie.

So, one last thing.  I must say that I am very proud of my baby girl.  She is now 18 months and everyday seems to bring something new.  Lately, her language skills are blossoming.  Words that I had no idea she could utter are being used.  I sometimes don't know if I should be happy or worried or a little bit of both.  (She is quite the talker and I fear the day when she "really" is able to hold a conversation)

That's it for now.  Have a great weekend!

Monday, Monday...

Well today has been very eventful.  I am happy to say that I actually packed and am ready for our trip and was done before 5pm.  Anyone who knows me, knows this is NOT the usual.  I am last minute because I try to leave the house spotless (laundry, cleaning, towels, sheets, the works)!!!

I am also excited because Amiyah has done so much today.  First, it was a highlight to see her accomplished face as she showed Daddy how to draw on her newly painted chalk board/easel!  It was so adorable.  Yay for chalkboard paint!!!!

Next, she actually went potty after telling me she had to go.  She is only 17 1/2 months so this is a big deal. We have been casually working with her just to get her use to the concept and it is working!!!! Can we say that I am one proud and very excited Mommy. :0)

The last thing today was how she really recognizes things and is using words to show it.  We usually watch Nick Jr or PBS shows and I like to scan the guide first to see what shows are on.  Our TV allows you to see what channel you have selected in a little box on the bottom of the screen.  Well, today when I did this she said, "Wubbzy and George!"  I couldn't believe it.  She actually knows the names of characters.  It seems like time is flying and I have no control; a truly bittersweet reality for us.

Well, that's about it for today.

Happy Monday!

Hey There!

Blog!!! I am not a writer and not very funny either....but I've decided to take a shot at this.  My sister told me to start a while back and today I got a wild hair and decided what the heck.  If nothing else, I can look back and laugh at my attempt.

My plan is to write about my life adventures as a mom, wife and women....so, here we go!

Today I decided to try my hand at chalkboard paint.  Let me tell you, it is AMAZING!!!! What started as a small project for my daughter Amiyah is now morphing into ideas galore.  Joseph is going to go nuts, nuts, nuts!!!  Stay tuned for more....
